CP5176 FET compressor / Gain reduction meter IC's
« on: April 28, 2023, 10:08:05 AM »
Hello,

As a habit, I always use sockets for IC's when ever I build something. Would I be correct to assume that the reason that sockets weren't included for the four IC's on the gain reduction meter is because they'd stand too high to allow the cover to be put on?

Thanks,
Emil

AB528 Microphone preamplifier / Re: Problème alimentation AB528

For what it's worth, I fixed the issue by soldering wires across the two PTC resistors in series with the +/-16V rails in the lunchbox. No more dipping power, no more pop every second.

AB528 Microphone preamplifier / AB528 in a Trident Deca Dent chassis?
« on: April 23, 2023, 08:30:14 AM »
Hello,

I've read another thread here where someone is having an issue with the AB528 in a Radial chassis with voltage dipping and a popping sound every second. I bought an Alctron S3MkII chassis as an interim while I save for something better, and am having the same issue. I'm just wondering if anyone has run the AB528 in a Trident Deca Dent 10-slot chassis and if all was okay? I have my eye on one but want to make sure the module works fine in it before committing.

Thanks,
Emil

Hi,

Just translated this thread to English and found that I have a similar issue with my AB528 in an Alctron S3MkII 3-slot chassis, which I believe is a Chinese clone of the Radial lunchbox. The power dipping and popping audio at 1 second intervals occurs on the 50 and 60 dB gain settings when the output potentiometer is around the 2 o'clock position and above. I guess this is my fault for buying a cheap chassis. The preamp does sound wonderful below those settings.

Thanks,
Emil
