CP554 Diode bridge compressor / Re: CP554 Setup step 6 and 7
« on: September 27, 2023, 09:10:19 AM »
I've found the issue, I have made the fatal error of soldering T1 and T2 in the wrong positions. I have ruined the transformers trying to remove them and so will have to purchase some more. Probably cheaper to do that in the u.k. I'll fit them and re-test.
If I have any further issues I will report back. Thanks.

CP554 Diode bridge compressor / CP554 Setup step 6 and 7

My second module is not going quite so great.

On the initial test I had soldered TR2 and TR1 in the wrong positions which I have now rectified.

On the second test step 6- the output gain does not increase on the meter when turning up the make-up gain, and TR1 (Step 7) does not effect the VAC value when adjusted. It stays at 0.0002 VAC once the compressor is engaged.

Do you think it could be TR1 and TR2 are damaged and need replacing? or is there something else I should be looking at as well?

CP554 Diode bridge compressor / JMP1 Missing CP554
« on: August 15, 2023, 11:00:53 AM »
Hi, I cannot seem find JMP1 in the parts bag.

Is it O.K. to simply join the bottom two holes with and off-cut of resistor wire soldered in place?

It would save re-ordering what seems to be a trivial part?

Hi, I cannot turn the knob around any further than 40. I didn't want to force it in case I break it. Fully left it is at 10 but I cant turn it past 40 to the right. (clockwise)

Hi, The red input gain on my newly assembled unit only turns around to 40? There are obviously two more steps to 50 and 60 that are not in use.

I have ALSO the notice the output seems quite low compared to my other preamps? I have the output set to max, input to 40 and switched to 300 ohms and its no where near as loud as my Camden 500.

Its not the end of the word but could there be a fault?
